This was a new 1.8km long road between the Waterford City Outer Ring Road and the Lacken Road junction including a signalised junction at Ballybeg Drive, two roundabout junctions and the construction of a link road to Lacken Road, with provision for future inbound and outbound bus lanes.
Roadplan provided full services: preliminary design, ground investigation including supervision, environmental management, Part 8 Planning, Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO), detailed design, tender documentation and recommendation, construction administration and supervision, and PSDP.
Sustainable transport was the main aim of the scheme; footpaths and segregated cycleways were provided to increase accessibility and permeability for sustainable travel to WIT. Provision was made for the future installation of bus lanes.
Junctions were modelled in ARCADY, PICADY or OSCADY and appropriate junction forms selected. The scheme has roundabouts, traffic signals and priority junctions.
